Purolator is the lone Mississauga company to be named among Canada’s top 50 employers in an annual study conducted by Forbes. The Meadowvale-based Canadian courier company, which employs some 14,000 people, ranked No. 46 on the Top 300 Forbes list that was released on January 25. The annual list is developed based on independent surveys of more than 12,000 employees working part- or full-time for Canadian companies employing at least 500 people.
Purolator was also recognized in 2022 as No. 14 on a list of Canada’s Best Employers for Diversity.
The City of Mississauga, home to some 5,800 employees, is the only other Mississauga employer to crack the top 100 on the Forbes list. It ranks 52nd.Â
Oakville-based Sheridan College (3,380 employees) ranked No. 1 on the list followed by Canadian Mental Health Association (Toronto, 5,000 employees), Keg Steakhouse & Bar (Richmond, B.C., 10,400 employees), Ericsson (Stockholm, Sweden, 104,490 employees) and Export Development Canada (Ottawa, 2,032 employees) to complete the top five.
Participants in the survey were asked to rate how likely they were to recommend their current employer, and they could recommend employers other than their own. Those factors and others were used to create the final list of 300, Forbes says.
