After 47 years with Covey Basics, VP of Sales Stuart Blair has announced his retirement. Based in New Brunswick, Coveys is locally owned and owner-operated carrying a complete selection of office and computer supplies, office furniture, business machines, technology products, printing and legal supplies. On July 12, Stuart shared this message through LinkedIn:
“Well after 47 years the time has come for me to retire. I would have never thought when the McMullin’s offered me a part time job while going to Saint Thomas it would turn into a lifetime career and ownership. During my years at Coveys I was fortunate to represent the company on various boards and committees on a local, provincial and National level. I met a large number of people from across North America who helped influence my career. We started out as a small stationery store on Carleton street and grew the company to one of the leading Office Products dealers in New Brunswick. Over the years I saw the end of the typewriter, the introduction of the personal computer and iPhone.
I worked through a couple of recessions and work slowdowns and most recently a Global Pandemic. During my career I was fortunate to work with a number of great staff and many of them became long term employees and friends. I am pleased to announce that Coveys will remain a locally owned Canadian Company offering the same friendly service you have been accustomed to over the years. People have asked what’s next for me; I will continue to do some special project work for Coveys, I still have my organization that I volunteer for and my wife Janet and I plan to travel and enjoy our home at Lake George. I want to thank all of you for your friendship and support for myself and my company over the years.”
