HP Inc. Reports Fiscal 2023 Third Quarter Results

HP reported a 9.9% decrease in Q3 2023 net revenue to $13.2 billion, down from the previous year. The company achieved a strong Q3 of sequential growth, gaining profitable PC market share and achieving its non-GAAP EPS target.

However, the external environment has not improved as quickly as expected, and HP is now moderating expectations. The company’s GAAP diluted net EPS was $0.76, above the previously provided outlook.

Notice Regarding a Business Partnership between Ricoh and Toshiba

Ricoh Company and Toshiba Tec Corporation are set to merge their business of multifunction printer development and manufacturing through a company split. The merger aims to create a joint venture company with Ricoh and Toshiba Tec as shareholders.

The announcement was made in a previous timely disclosure, which included a simplified absorption-type company split and the conclusion of a Business Integration Agreement and a Shareholders Agreement.

However, Ricoh and Toshiba Tec have announced that the scope of the Business Integration has been changed, and some figures in the previous timely disclosure have also been updated. The merger is expected to be completed by May 19, 2023.

Office Depot Eyes $2 Million in Attorney Fees after Beating Copyright Claim

Office Depot is seeking over $2 million in attorneys’ fees after defeating a copyright infringement suit by data analysis company Infogroup. U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed Infogroup’s lawsuit in June, rejecting the data company’s claim that Office Depot misused propriety data while determining where to open new stores.

Cannon found that the licensing agreement between Infogroup and Office Depot did not restrict how Office Depot could use Infogroup’s data.

Office Depot claims its lawyers, including Husch Blackwell, DLA Piper, and Hogan Lovells, are entitled to more than $2 million in attorney fees and costs under the Copyright Act. Data Axle counsel Greg Scaglione of Koley Jessen will oppose Office Depot’s motion for fees.
