In 2024, AI will play a significant role in retail innovation, helping retailers increase operational efficiency and enhance customer and employee experiences. Dell Technologies and its partner ecosystem are working to streamline operations and drive growth by providing solutions that drive speed to innovation and create long-term value. Michael Dell highlighted the potential of AI in retail, stating that if not applied across organizations, retailers are already behind.

Generative AI will not only improve customer experience but also internal operations, marketing initiatives, and customer support and engagement. Data management is crucial, and retailers must have a strategy for accessing data locked in disparate systems. Dell Technologies hosted a “Big Idea” session at NRF 2024, focusing on responsible use of AI in retail. Traditional forms of AI provide insights that can be leveraged across Generative AI models, such as Computer Vision, which can help identify customer traffic patterns, reduce loss, and improve frictionless shopping.

Retailers require a wide range of technology solutions and services to support retail workloads from front-end to back of store, distribution center to corporate. Dell Technologies released the NativeEdge platform last year to manage and orchestrate edge capabilities, centralizing edge operations and streamlining edge infrastructure management. The platform offers retailers the flexibility to choose ISV applications and multicloud environments for chosen edge application workloads, enabling them to centrally and consistently deploy containerized or virtualized applications.
