Statistics Canada has reported that only 20% of Canadians continue to work from home as of November 2023, a decline since the introduction of the work model at the start of the pandemic.
In April 2020, 40% of Canadians worked mostly from home, but fell to 30% in January 2022. Lisa Hutcheson, managing partner at JC Williams Group, a retail consulting firm, expects a return to work requirements, but office workers seem to be more difficult to reintegrate. Prior to the pandemic, only 7% of Canadians worked from home.
Those who remain part of the one in five Canadians still working from home say they do not want to give it up. Remi Gov, who has been running an IT solutions business since 2017, believes that there is no need to return to the office. Others see the benefits of working from home, such as saving time and money, changing wardrobes, and doing everything they can in the office from her home computer.
In conclusion, the work from home wave has been a significant shift in Canadian society, with office workers finding it the most challenging to return to work.
