COPA recognizes the importance of education, and therefore encourages children of employees of our association member companies to attend university or college. To help offset the cost of a post-secondary education, COPA has been pleased to offer a Scholarship Program.
COPA Board of Directors is pleased to announce the Scholarship Program recipients for the year 2023. The finalists were chosen by weighted ballot draw and this year we are pleased to award two scholarships to:
Sofia Pasqua Loschiavo
Attending: McMaster University
Program: 1st Year Psychology P and B and Neuroscience
COPA Member Company: Global Upholstery
Sofia was one of the MC’s and organizers for a high tea event put on by her class for breast cancer awareness which raised a couple of thousand dollars. She was on the Honour roll, and an Ontario Scholar. Sofia has been accepted into McMaster University to pursue a career in Neuroscience.
Samantha Hyatt
Attending: McGill University
Program: Chemical Engineering
COPA Member Company: G&K Specialties
Samantha, a highly motivated individual, is preparing to enter her first year of Chemical Engineering at McGill University. She has a strong academic background, having excelled in various sports and clubs. At graduation, she received numerous awards for her academic achievements, including a DELF B2 level certification and an excellence award in French. Samantha’s goal is to become a professional engineer and develop sustainable technologies. She is grateful for the COPA scholarship and is eager to begin her studies.
